Create a section view in a drawing and click Edit sketch in the PropertyManager, or select an existing department view.
Cutting Line
Department View
Partial section | Creates a section view that is limited by the length of the section line if the line does non span the entire view.
Slice section | Shows only the faces cut by the section line.
Complete department | Partial department | Slice section
Auto hatching | Crosshatch patterns alternating between components in assemblies, or between bodies in multibody parts and weldments. The hatch patterns alternate when sectioning an associates.
Randomize calibration
Randomizes the hatch calibration for the same material in the drawing view. Clear this setting to keep the scale identical for all hatches of multiple parts of the aforementioned material.
Scale hatch pattern | Applies the view's scale to hatches within the view.
Emphasize outline | Emphasizes the outline of cut faces.
Hide cutting line shoulders | Only bachelor on view creation
Foreshorten view | Only bachelor on view cosmos |
Surface Bodies
Section Depth
Lets you fix the depth of a section view to a distance yous specify. This control is only bachelor for section views whose cutting line consists of a single line segment.
Distance section views utilise to components, not features.
To gear up a distance, exercise ane of the following:
Preview |
Import annotation from
Import annotations | Select Import annotations to all selected types of annotations to exist imported from referenced part or associates documents. Select annotation import options:
|
Display Style
Apply parent fashion | Clear to select style and quality settings different from those of the parent view. |
Click a display fashion.
Select High quality or Draft quality to set the display quality of the model. This is available only when Display quality for new views is set to Draft quality. If y'all select High quality, these options exercise not appear over again.
Calibration
Use parent calibration | Applies the aforementioned scale used for the parent view. If you modify the scale of a parent view, the scale of all kid views that use the parent scale is updated. |
Utilize sheet scale | Applies the same scale used for the drawing canvass. |
Utilise custom calibration | Applies a calibration that you ascertain. If you select User Defined, enter a calibration in the box below in the following format: 10:x or x/x. Select Utilise model text scale to maintain the geometry used in the annotation views in parts. |
The preset options in Use custom scale differ based on the dimensioning standard.
Dimension Blazon
Dimensions in drawings are either:
True | Accurate model values. |
Projected | 2D dimensions. |
The dimension type is gear up when y'all insert a cartoon view. You can view and alter the dimension type in drawing view PropertyManagers.
The rules for dimension blazon are:
- SOLIDWORKS specifies Projected type dimensions for standard and custom orthogonal views and Truthful type dimensions for isometric, dimetric, and trimetric views.
- If yous create a projected or auxiliary view from another view, the new view uses Projected type dimensions, even if the original view used True type dimensions.
Corrective Thread Brandish
The post-obit settings override the Cosmetic thread display choice in , if there are cosmetic threads in the cartoon view.
High quality | Displays precise line fonts and trimming in cosmetic threads. If a cosmetic thread is only partially visible, High quality shows simply the visible portion (it shows precisely what is visible and what is invisible.) System performance is slower with Loftier quality cosmetic threads. Information technology is recommended that you articulate this option until you finish placing all annotations. |
Draft quality | Displays cosmetic threads with less detail. If a corrective thread is only partially visible, Typhoon quality shows the unabridged feature. |
Salvage View As
Aggrandize Salve View Equally to save a drawing view as a Dxf or Dwg file. Optionally, drag the point handle to gear up the origin in the file and click Salve View Equally DXF/DWG . Set the options in the Save As dialog box.
Export merely model geometry ignores other sketch annotations that are associated with the selected view.
Automated View Update
Exclude from automated update | Excludes the selected cartoon views from automatic updates that occur if the drawing is open, Automated view update is selected, and you lot save changes to the model. |
